Arsenal news: Gunners won’t miss Laurent Koscielny if he leaves, says Tony Cascarino

Tony Cascarino insists Arsenal will not miss Laurent Koscielny if he leaves this summer.

The Gunners captain has refused to travel with Unai Emery’s squad for the club’s pre-season tour of America.

Laurent Koscielny’s Arsenal days appear to be numbered

Koscielny, who joined Arsenal in a £9.7million deal from Lorient in 2010, is believed to be pushing for a return to France.

In a brief statement, Arsenal said they were ‘very disappointed’ by the 33-year-old’s actions.

And former Chelsea striker Cascarino told talkSPORT’s Weekend Sports Breakfast: “I think Koscielny has been one of their problems.

Unai Emery might need to sign a Laurent Koscielny replacement

“If I’m brutally honest, the amount of times I’ve seen headed goals in his position where he has conceded with Koscielny not doing his job.

“I know he’s had a bad [Achilles] injury, I’m aware of that, but I think he’s also been one of their problems that has got away with it.

“I don’t think [he’ll] be a miss. It’s a time you move on.

“Arsenal have gone through a period, he’s been there for all the down times in the past few years, they are the people you need to get out of the door as well if you’re a side that’s been going backwards and they have.”

Arsenal’s pre-season campaign gets underway when they take on Colorado on Tuesday.
