Liverpool are reportedly planning a bid for Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

The Reds splashed out £66.8million on Brazil no.1 Alisson Becker last year and was a revelation last season as he picked up the Premier League Golden Glove award.

Jurgen Klopp has struggled to find a suitable backup to Alisson and the Daily Mail claim he is considering a move for Heaton.

Their lack of options has been evident during their pre-season tour of the United States with their number one getting time off following the Copa America triumph where he also won the Golden Glove.

Veteran Andy Lonergan was even brought along to boost their numbers while Simon Mignolet made a howler against Sporting Lisbon in their 2-2 draw.

Heaton, who is 33, has 12 months left on his contract at Turf Moor, but it would just be as a backup to Alisson.

Aston Villa are also in the market for a goalkeeper and could provide competition for the Reds.

Klopp admitted he was still looking in the transfer market but is under no pressure to make any signings.

He told the Liverpool Echo: “We are still looking, but it will not be the (biggest) transfer window of LFC.

“It just will be a transfer window. We will see what we do, and if we haven’t done anything by the end it will be for different reasons.

“It’s about using the team. In the transfer window, you have to build a team that you think you want to go into the season with. But I have that team already.

“If we can bring somebody else in that makes it even better, we will see. But if not, this team is already there. And again we will have to find solutions at different moments.”
