Manchester United transfer news: Former Celtic star linked as replacement for Inter Milan target Romelu Lukaku

Manchester United have targeted Lyon striker Moussa Dembele should Romelu Lukaku leave for Inter Milan this summer, according to Sky Sports.

United have turned down an offer of £54million from Inter for the Belgian striker but the Italian club are expected to make a fresh move for the Belgian.

Moussa Dembele has been targeted by Man United

The former Everton forward has made it clear he is keen on the move, having spoke of his admiration for the Serie A and Inter boss Antonio Conte.

“I was always a big fan of the Italian league. People close to me know I have two leagues that I always dreamed about – the English league and Serie A,” Lukaku told Sport Mediaset.

“So, for me, Serie A is my favourite league as well.

“The transfer of [Cristiano] Ronaldo, the Italian league is now coming back. Now Antonio Conte going to Inter Milan, which is really good because he is, to me, the best manager in the world.

“And then you have Maurizio Sarri going to Juventus, [Carlo] Ancelotti at Napoli so I think Serie A will be really exciting next year. I’m really happy for Italian football.”

Lukaku has been seen taking part in training sessions

With Lukaku looking set for the exit, United are said to be tracking Dembele.

The French forward spent two successful seasons at Celtic before moving on to Lyon in 2018 for £19.7m.

Dembele netted 15 goals in 32 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon last season.
