Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘won’t see out the season’ as Manchester United manager, claims Dean Saunders on talkSPORT

Dean Saunders believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will NOT see out the season as Manchester United manager.

The Old Trafford legend is facing a critical first summer transfer window in charge of his former club, as he looks to rebuild a team capable of challenging for titles.

And, if last season is anything to go on, they’ve got a lot of work to do to get anywhere close to rivals Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

After finishing sixth last season – a whole 32 points adrift of champions City – a top four finish will be the benchmark for this next campaign.

And, unless he can rid his squad of troublesome players this summer, Saunders believes the Norwegian is sure to be sacked before the season ends.

Sports Breakfast host Alan Brazil asked on Wednesday’s show: “Will Solskjaer see out the season, Deano?”

And Saunders replied: “I don’t think he will, Al.

“I just think he’s walked into a mess and he’s got such a difficult job.

“These players, with one or two exceptions, have got three managers the sack.

“These players have just got Mourinho the sack and if Solskjaer doesn’t get his own players on the pitch they’ll get him the sack, and he knows that.

“He knows if he keeps on with these players and doesn’t change the personnel, he’ll get sacked.

“I think he needs some help, you’ve got to write some cheques and get the job done, get the people you want out the building out as quick as possible.”
